We´re in the tiny Patagonian town of El Chalten, with a very slow and expensive internet connection. Yesterday we backpacked up to Laguna Capri, about an hour and a half of an uphill climb. The place is really beautiful, with large mountains (including Mt Fitz Roy) and easily visible glaciers. And one of the really cool things about the National Park where all of this sits is that the water is drinkable, including at streams and lagoons, so there´s no need to use nasty purifying tablets. We camped last night and cooked an, hmm, interesting dinner (resulting from me misreading the instructions on how to make instant soup from powder). As the sun fell, it got quite cold and windy. Luckily, in the tent it was warm enough to sleep. This morning the weather wasn´t looking too good, and we decided to hike back down to El Chalten and stay in some posh (Alex says: i dont agree with that description) little hostel--yeah, we don´t exactly rough it too much, but that´s OK :)
Tomorrow we head back to El Calafate, and thursday, hopefully, to the Glaciar Perito Moreno.
